This coming Memorial Day weekend how will you be observing the holiday?  Will you be remembering those that helped establish and protect our way of life, our freedom by participating or going to a parade; maybe going to a national cemetery to post flags on the grave stones; if you have kids will you teach them why they are out of school for the day?  Or, will you observe the holiday like many have in recent years – taking advantage of sales, going to the lake, BBQing and drinking beer.

The Marine Corps League’s of Denton and Collin Counties along with friends and family will be joining forces this year to once again to participate in Carry The Load’s annual Memorial Day March in Dallas on May 24th and 25th. Our mission is to help support Carry The Load restore the true meaning of Memorial Day, by honoring their memory and service while walking in the event, while also raising funds to support today’s hero’s – military, veterans, police, fire fighters, paramedics and their families.

This year we are also partnering with Gratitude Initiative.  This year Gratitude Initiative (GI) is one of Carry The Load's Non-Profit Partners that they will be promoting and raising funds for. GI provides essential education programs and scholarships for children from military and veteran families to include those wounded or killed in service to our country.  To Learn more about Gratitude Initiative please visit their website here:

For every member of Marine Corps League Team who earns the coveted "Load Carrier" T-shirt for raising/donating $200 dollars, Gratitude Initiative will also provide an additional event T-shirt as well!

Last year the team we organized was the 3rd largest team with 47 members and the 6th highest fund raising team, raising $20,463.  Plus our team members walked hundreds of miles.  This year our goals are to have at least 60 team members, raise at least $30,000 to help today’s heroes and walk a total of 500 miles during the 20 hour and 15 minute event.

How can you help support the mission of restoring meaning to Memorial Day and help us achieve our goals?

You can join the team!  As a team member you can help raise funds up to and during the event, and you can come out and participate in the walk on May 24th and 25th.  You can walk for a mile or attempt to walk through the night as some of us will be doing.  To become a member of the team click the "team page" link below.

Once you are register you will have a personal fund raising page.  You will be able to type a personal message, add photo’s, email friends and family and track your fund raising progress here. To get your friends and family to join the team or donate you can send them a link to your personal page and they can simply click the “DONATE NOW” or “JOIN MARINE CORPS LEAGUE” buttons.  Once you have raised $200 you will earn a Load Carrier T-shirt from Carry The Load.  Also our team partners Gratitude Initiative will provide a T-shirt to every member of our team to rasie $200 or More

To donate click on the "team page" link or one of the team member's links below.  Remember in order for a team member to receive credit the donation must be made through their personal page.

For a $25 donation or more we will honor the memory or service of a friend or loved one, by carrying a 2” x 18” Carry The Load authorized streamer baring their name.  After the event we will mail the streamer to you as a keepsake of your loved one and the event.

If you donate $25 or more and want us to carry a name please email us at [email protected]
Send your name, the name you would like us to put on the streamer, and your address so we can mail it after the event.
